Without Excuse

Men of all ages know enough about the Lord to seek Him. They are without excuse. Just like people in our time, there was much that Job knew about the Lord and, of course, there was much more that he didn*t know. Experts believe that the book of Job predates most of the Old Testament. That means that he and his friends had very little of the Bible, if any, to teach them about God. It is believed that some things from the book of Job were quoted in the Psalms. Job and men of all ages who have never heard or read the Bible have enough information about God from their conscience and from His Creation to know that they need Him.

Romans 1:18-20: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

In Job chapter 10 we can see many similarities between Job*s knowledge of God and ours. A few things that he knew stand out. He knew that God created him, he knew that God did not approve of his sin, he was troubled about it himself and he knew that God had given him life and favor. He also knew about the brevity of life and had faith to know that he would be resurrected.

Job 10:9: Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?

Job 10:12: Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

Job 10:15: If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;

Job 13:15: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Job 19:26: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

We too are without excuse.
